In 2024, I was commissioned by Kunstlinie (Almere) to create the poster of their exhibition Stille Wateren. The exhibition explored the links between the Dutch slave trade and its repercussions still visible today within the community.

I created two illustrations complementing each other, the main image representing an Afro-Surinamese woman dressed in the traditional Koto dress and standing in the middle of a rough sea. She holds a burning Blauwe Delft caravel in her arms, symbol of the Dutch colonization and its consequences.

In this urgency and surrounding chaos, the contrast is revealed in the gaze and peaceful smile of this lady, ready to address this shared history without taboos.
